Statistical Investigation

LI: to plan and carry out a statistical investigation

Sulia, Chris and I asked different students in LS2 4 different questions. Those questions were; ‘What is your favorite Color’ ‘What is your favorite Animal’ ‘What is your favorite Food’ and ‘What is your favorite brand’. After gathering the data, we recorded it on a piece of paper and then created a graph. We chose one of the 4 questions as a topic for our graph. The question we chose was ‘What is your favorite Color?’. 4 students liked blue, 4 students liked purple, 2 students like black, 2 people liked green, 1 person liked Sage, 1 person liked red, and 1 person liked yellow. The graph we made was a pie chart/graph.

Statistics Presentation

LI: to learn something about the class or school using statistics
This week was the final week of Statistics. For this week we had to make gather what we did and learnt for the past few weeks into a presentation. We then had to present our information and our work to the class. We were scored on what we were doing.

We scored on Delivery and Content. Delivery meant we had to speak up, and use eye contact. The point system was 1 point if only one person spoke clearly, two points of two or three people spoke clearly, and 3 points if everyone spoke clearly.

Content meant we had to have a really detailed presentation. One point is for one aspect, two points for two or three aspects, and 3 points for four or more aspects.

Our team got 6 out of 6 points.

Cleaning Data

LI: to learn something about the class or school using statistics
From the graph we made last week we had heaps of responses. We had to get our results and clean up the data. What I mean by cleaning up data is like fixing up doubles, organising it in a better way, and more. The question we had to answer about the school was: Where is the most popular place to sit and rest in the school? Statistics is gathered information in an organised way. Data is the results, responses , or information in the statistics.

Statistics (Map of PBS)

LI: to learn about the class or school using statistics
We were learning about statistics. Statistics are gathering information to answer questions. We were trying to answer a question about the school. The question was: Where is the most popular place to sit and rest in school? We used resources like Google Spreadsheet, Google Forms, and Google Drawing, and etc.

We learnt by making a survey and using the class or school to help. To also improve our statistic skills. We used a template give to us to help us sort out our survey.

Statistics Activity

LI: to recap learn again about a math subject
This week for Math our DLO (Digital Learning Object) was to make an interactive activity of the math focus we were doing. So for the next three weeks we will be able to choose out of four options a math focus to work on. Then we will learn and recap about the Math Focus and make an interactive activity, so other people can go on the activity. The Math Focus I picked was Statistics. My activity was to make a graph with the parts all over the place.
