A Call To Arms

I learned that there is currently a company which is trying to get rid of predators from New Zealand. Predators are animals that in some way damage the natural environment. The company is called "Predator Free 2050". So for this activity we had to pick one of three videos and pick which one is the best and why. My favourite is called "Cacophony Project". It is because there is a man who makes inventions to trap predators. But the inventions are not made from luxurious materials. He made them from scratch. He used a plastic box, card board and more.

  1. Hello Chris! It's great to see more posts from you, as well as some comments from you popping up on others blogs. Good job on summarising what the video was and that you learnt something new. Make sure you don't forget to include what you had to do for the activity in your blurb. Would you help with the Cacophony project? Keep it up!

  2. Hi Chris,
Great job on completing this activity! I liked how you said that although his inventions work really well they're made from easy to get materials. He uses different things like sound and food to trap the predators like possums. Those inventions must've been hard to think of, where do you think he got his inspiration from?

  3. Hello Chris,

Well done for completing this task. I am glad to see you posting these SLJ activities. Did you enjoy finishing this activity? Why? I did this activity too. It was very fun to complete. I liked it how you chose a project and explained to us why you have chosen this. I am sure that I chose the same video as you. Do you think that his inventions are great? Which invention was your favourite?

  4. Mōrena Chris,

I also really enjoyed ‘The Cacophony Project’, I believe they can truly help our birdlife in New Zealand. Yes the project works closely in developing new technologies from scratch, they must be super innovative (advanced). They also work closely with monitoring the bird songs to measure the impact! I learnt this off their website https://cacophony.org.nz/
Well done for linking the video, this means people from all around the world can click on the link and learn more information from the same source!

Do you have any ideas that ‘The Cacophony Project’ could use? Let me know in the comments!

    Blog you later!
