PB4L

LI: to understand the behavior we should present in school and to juniors.

Today for PB4L we learn the behavior we should present in school and to juniors. This can come into wet day monitors and how we should treat the children. This can also come down to respecting our teachers and respecting our learning expection. Up above is our DLO showing us the expectations and what the expectations can show other teachers and classroom to help us with our reputation. To also show our capabilities of being a leader.

BookClub

LI: to unpack the text together

Fau, Lukah, Sulia, Vayan, Afatia, Azatulah and I were introduced to the activity, Book Club by Mrs Anderson.  Each member of the book club has a role to take each week. The 7 roles are, The Discussion Director, Connector, Summariser, Passage Picker, Word Master, Illustrator and Meeting Report.

The book that we read this week was called “Bok Choy” by Paul Mason. The moral of the story was describing the differences between the chinese people compared to the english. This story unpacked the racism faced by chinese miners, who came to New Zealand in 1800s to seek their fortune in the gold fields. From this story we learnt it is important to accept one another despite who we are and how we look.

Once we had completed the tasks for our roles, we reported back to the group and shared our thoughts and ideas. The Discussion Director’s asked questions and guided everybody to be on the right track. The Summariser, picked 20 most important words from the story, to 6, and used it to summarise the text. The Passage Picker would pick a part of the story and write why it’s important to you. The Connector had to make connections to themself, to text, and to the world from the book.

I enjoyed that each person had a role and everybody contributed to the group. I found it interesting that everyone had a rich learning conversation . I'm looking forward to doing this again.

Manaiakalani Survey

This week the schools in the Manaiakalani cluster had to do a survey. The Learning Space 2 students helped the Year 1 - 3 students who were new to technology and Ipads. I think this was good, because it showed the juniors that we are helpful, and we can be approachable.

Experimenting with Ultaviolet light

LI: to find the most effective UV filter

Learning Space 2 has been trialling the the electronic sensors for the Kiwrious kit project. We were working with the Suranga, Sonia, Evan, Dawn, and Yvonne from the AHL at Auckland University. I found that the red paper was the most effective to keep Zally safe from the Ultraviolet light. My DLO will show you about how I did this experiment.

PBS Live Stream Assembly

Today LS2 was watching an assembly on live stream. These online live stream assemblies were about bringing all the students of Panmure Bridge together during the lockdown. But we have continued this online assembly at Level 2. These assemblies were organized by our teachers Mrs Pryde, and Mrs Kirkpatrick. During lockdown these assemblies helped us by updating information and giving us information.
