Map

LI: to create our own Map

For our Distance Learning activities we continued on with our weekly topic which was Fortnite. Our DLO (Digital Learning Object) was to make our own Fortnite Map, it was cool collaborating with our friends being able to make this Map. It was cool seeing the previous maps from the previous seasons seeing how Fortnite was able to change and progress their Maps.

Skins Profile

LI: to describe your favourite online gaming character

For our Distance Leanring activities we continued on our weekly topic which was Fortnite. Our task was to create a DLO (Digital Learning Object) about a Skin Profile. The task was to either make a profile on our favourite character from a game or we create our own Skin from Fortnite. It was fun doing as we were able to create a character using our own creativity as well as collaborating with our friends.

Design Challenge

LI: to design and label your ultimate gaming setup and controller

To continue our Distance Learning we had created a designing challenge from our topic on Fortnite this week. We designed our gaming setup collaboratively, in our setup we chose a simple gaming PC setup. It was cool to be able to design our own setup with our friends. It was fun and interesting ot do as we got to research different companies that produce the equipment needed in a gaming setup.

Customised Shoes

 LI: to customise shoes

For Reading, we continued on our learning on Rangi-Haira Jaxon Greening and we have created our own digital custom shoes. We were allowed to design on any model of shoes such as Force 1s, Air Jordans, Adidas and model of shoes. My custom shoe was heavily inspired by the Jordan 1 Mochas, and I implemented the colour way on Air Force 1s, which I thought was pretty cool. It was really fun doing this activity as I really like sneakers, and how Rangi-Haira Jaxon Greening can implement Maori Culture into his customs.

Artwork

LI: to learn how to use shapes to make artwork

For our Reading we were learning about artwork, using different art tools and using shapes to create pieces of artwork. The artwork I had recreated was "Girl with a pearl earring". It was fun doing as I got to recreate it with tools on Google Drawing, being able to trace certain parts as well as create other parts with the shapes available on the app. It was fun doing, as we got to use other colouring tools such as Coolour.

Tech - Painting

LI: to learn about the Color Wheel

For Tech we were learning about tints and shades. A tint is a lighter version of a colour, but a shade is a darker version of a colour. We were learning this while painting, we learnt how to mix colours and apply the colour on paper. We were learning about Primary Colours, and mixing them to make Secondary Colours. It was really fun as we got to do this with our friends, and with other people.

Outside the Box

LI: to think outside the box, to be creative and finish the picture

Outside the Box is an art activity. Its a really fun and enjoyable activity. The activity is to try to make a random shape into an art. The shape was a squiggly line as you can see in the waves in the river. My artwork is suppose to be a river with waves coming down the stream. I think I did a pretty good job. I really like the colour scheme I did. This was super fun because I was able to express my creativity into this artwork like it says in the Learning Intention.

Decorating the Tree

LI: to decorate the office Christmas tree

The purpose of our Design Technology challenge was to create a set of Christmas/Holiday decorations that represented our school and the people in it. We were given a design brief from Mr Johnston and a delivery date. To celebrate the end of this challenge LS2 delivered their completed decorations to Mr Johnston, then hung them on the tree in our school office. It was really cool to see our holiday decorations hanging on the School Christmas Tree.

Art Coloring Book - Step it Up Challenge

LI: to use TEEL Paragraph to explain our color choice

Last week we used the art we created from the Summer Learning Journeys "The Coloring Book". The art I recreated was created by Louis Mailou Jones, and the art is called Moon Masque. The changes I made were the color scheme of the whole art. I did that to give the mood a change. In the TEEL Paragraph Description I wrote about the ways I used the colours to change mood of the art. I also talked about the use of shapes that we used to give the art a spark of life.

Tuakana Teina

LI: to learn the meaning of Tuakana Teina

Tuakana Teina means a relationship between an elder & young person, or a teaching from an elder to a young person. Ruma Kotahi (Rm 1) & Ruma Korua (Rm 2) came to Learning Space 2 to do some art. LS2 helped Ruma Kotahi & Korua with drawing, designing patterns, and create string art panels. We had a Tuakana Teina by helping and teaching the young people art. It was really fun to do because we taught them how to do new things and experience new things which is really cool.

Sunflower Painting

LI: to paint a still life of sunflowers in the style of Vincent Van Gogh

For Art we were painting sunflowers, in the style of Vincent Van Gogh. While painting we had to keep a lot of things in mind, to keep our paintings looking good. Our most important rule was to draw what we could see. Before actually painting we started practicing our toning, shading, and our brush strokes. We were also advised to blend our colors, stroke in one direction, don’t overload the brush with paint, and to make layers of paint to make a realistic looking sunflower. I enjoyed painting and being able to mix the colors, because it gave it a kind of realistic look.

Vincent van Gogh Timeline

LI: to create a timeline to show the life of Vince van Gogh

Made with Padlet

Our challenge was to make a timeline of Vincent van Goghs life, and his milestones. We used Padlet to make the timeline, and we worked in our groups collaboratively. Vincent van Gogh was a influential artist and painter, and still is today. He was a post impressionist artist, which mean he captured everything in the moment, and used colors to express his emotions. A really interesting fact I found out about Vincent van Gogh when researching about him was that he cut off the lobe of his ear, and gifted it to his girlfriend.

Art with David

LI: to use our Care Values

We had a student from Learning Space One who emailed Mrs Anderson, asking to teach Learning Space 2 students art. We accepted because we wanted to build his self esteem and confidence, so when he grows he can be confident. David taught us to make art, the art we did was drawing line and patterns into shapes to make the art look advanced. The art David taught us was amazing and was really effective.

Cityscape of Kuala Lumpur

LI: to write a description of my cityscape using prepositions

Not many people know but Kuala means two rivers joining, and Lumpur means mud. So together it means “Muddy Confluence”. As you can see in the middle of my cityscape is the Petronas Twin Towers, are you aware that they are the tallest twin towers. They rise high above any other twin towers. As strange as it may seem on the left of my cityscape, the prominent feature in Kuala Lumpur, the Kuala Lumpur Tower oddly resembles the Auckland Sky Tower. Below the Kuala Lumpur Tower stands the Hilton Kuala Lumpur Hotel which is 154 metres up. Kuala Lumpur has plenty of high rise buildings. My background for the cityscape were warm colors, I picked warm colors so I could set the mood on a sunny day, or a sunrise or sunset. I used white and black to make the shades either darker or lighter. As well as that I did a reflection on my art to show that it was next to the ocean.

Think outside the box!

LI: to learn about art
For one of our Distance Learning activities we did some art. For this art we had to use a specific shape in our art. We had to use our imagination to figure out how we could use that shape and make it into art. I made that shape into a birds beak I really enjoyed this activity because I was able to use my imagination and creativity.

Art Drawing

LI: to learn about music and arts
For one of our Distance Learning activities we had to make draw a drawing of an animal from the Auckland Zoo. For my drawing I drew a Giraffe, but it was a digital drawing. It was pretty hard because I tried to draw every spot on the Giraffe, and it took some time, but it ended up looking pretty good.

Ludwig van Beethoven

LI: to learn about music and arts
For one of our Distance Learning activities we had to make a DLO (Digital Learning Object) on a composer. But that composer had to be a person who shaped the music we had today, and listen to. I picked Ludwig van Beethoven because I have heard one of his pieces of music before. In this DLO (Digital Learning Object) we had to write down who was the composer we picked, five interesting facts about them, and lastly pick a picture that relates to one of the composers pieces of music.

Billie Eilish

LI: to learn about music and arts
For one of our Distance Learning activities, we had to make a DLO (Digital Learning Object) on ou favourite singer or group. So for my DLO (Digital Learning Object) I did Billie Eilish. In our DLO we had to write down who was our favourite singer or group, then why we like that singer or group, then we had to write down the genre of music that singer or group sing. I picked Billie Eilish because I think her music is fantastic.

Leaf Art

LI: to make leaf art
Leaf art is a type of art. Leaf art is making pictures out of leaves. For this activity we had to try to make an animal out of leaves. After that we had to write down three facts about the animal we made using leaves. The animal I made using leaves was a Kiwi. I picked the Kiwi because it is the national animal of New Zealand.

Fact 1: The Kiwi is the national animal of New Zealand
Fact 2: Kiwis are nocturnal, nocturnal means being active in the night but not in the day
Fact 3: Kiwis have small tiny wings but cannot use them to fly
