Cacti Problem

LI: to use my knowledge to solve an equation
I did one of the activities for the Summer Learning Journey and it is a Math Equation. The problem was: you are given a cactus for your birthday. To keep it alive, you must give it 3 ml of water every day. Over one full year, how much water will you need to give your cactus plant? So we had to figure that our with a strategy.

  1. Kia ora Chris,

Ka pai for your brilliant work. It was a great idea to create a short presentation slide to show us how you've solved the problem.

Remember writing down your strategy is a great habit to develop so that you can always come back to it if you get an incorrect final answer.

I like how you have thought about changing the equation '365 x 3' to '365 + 365 + 365'. They should both give you the exact same answer and you've done a wonderful job. (Your answer is correct!)

Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to reading more of your blog posts.

    All the best,
    Susie

  3. Hi Chris,
Great job on completing this activity! I like how you only added two at a time first so it was easier to figure out. Can you think of any other strategies to figure out the answer?

  4. Greetings Chris,

What an outstanding blog post seen from you. It's good to see you focusing on your learning during these summer holidays. I did this activity too. It was fun. Did you enjoy doing this task? Why? I enjoyed reading this DLO about your answer to this cacti problem. I got the same answer as you, because I used the same formula as you. Can you figure out any other formula's to this answer?

    NICE:)
