Towering Timbers

LI: to talk about Loggers
The first activity for week 1 day 5 was about loggers. Some people like logging trees because it makes money, and makes a living for them. But some people don't like it because it is destroying the environment and some animals have to leave their homes. I don't like loggers because:

  1. We are destroying the environment
  2. Animals that live in trees have to a new home

  1. Hi Chris,
Great job on completing this activity! I agree with what you are saying, loggers are definitely bad for the environment, especially since trees recycle carbon dioxide into oxygen which we breathe. People say that loggers are good because they get the wood we use to build our homes but you're right when you say that the wood used to be animals homes too.

  2. ia Ora Chris,

Well done for presenting both sides of the argument on your blog. I think it is important that people understand both sides of the argument before they make an informed decision. Logging is a big industry here in New Zealand and you are right that it provides money and jobs for lots of people. Have you heard of sustainable foresting before? It is the practise of logging an area then planting more trees there. Once the trees are fully grown the company can come and log them and start the process all over again. Do you think sustainable logging is a good idea for New Zealand?

    Keep up the great blogging!

    Blog ya later!

  3. Hi Chris,

What an outstanding blog post seen from you. It's good to see you focusing on your learning during these summer holidays. I did this activity too. It was great. Did you enjoy doing this task? Why? Yes I agree with your reasons for logging not being allowed in New Zealand. I love it how you've decided to be creative, by drawing a image of someone trying to cut the trees down. I know right our animals will need to find new homes, because most of our birds live in the nest.

    NICE:)
