Food Technology (Week 3)



LI: to learn culinary skills by making a chicken salad
This week at Tamaki College we had Food Tech, with Ms Heka. This week for Food Tech we were making a chicken salad. We first got the equipment for the food, and then we got the ingredients to make the chicken salad. The ingredients for our chicken salad, was chicken, red cabbage, carrots, onions, oil, beans, corns, curry powder, and rice. We first diced the onions, then peeled and grated the carrots. We also then diced the chicken. We again then diced up the red cabbage. Next we put 5 table - spoons of oil into our pot. We then put 2 tables - spoons of both beans and corn into one measuring cup, then we put 1 table - spoon of curry powder into the other measuring cup. After we put the diced onions into the pot and we started cooking. After cooking the onions, we put in the chicken with it. After cooking both the chicken and onions, we added the rice in the pot. When we mixed the rice, chicken and onions we sprinkled the curry powder around the pot to spread and mix the curry flavor. After mixing it with curry powder, we added the veggies which were the: corn, beans, red cabbage, and carrots.
