LI: To observe and manipulate two and three dimensional shapes

KiwiCan

The catchphrase is "Kiwi Can says emotions are what you feel, let others know whats the deal?
The activities were all about emotions. The one on the left is called "Musical Emotions". Everyone had to be in groups. Mr Malu gave us a emotion and we had to play a band with that emotion.
I think "Musical Emotions" was about communication because we had to talk about what position and what instrument who was doing.
The activity on the right is called "Emotions Statue". We had to be with a partner and one of us had to be a creator, and one of us had to be a statue. Mr Malu shouted out a emotion. The creator had to make the emotion on the person that was being a statue. We also had to tell why we they had that emotion.

Duck Overboard

Text title: Duck Overboard

Author: Ben Clerkin
I think the main idea of this text is about thousands of rubber yellow ducks, blue turtles and green frogs floating out of a ship. The cargo ship was struck by lightning when a storm appeared in the sea.
One example of a supporting detail is that countries around the world have seen the rubber yellow ducks, blue turtles and green frogs.
Another example of a supporting detail is that Curtis Ebbesmeyer has been tracking the rubber yellow ducks, blue turtles and green frogs around the worlds ocean.
It is clear that the main idea is that at January 1992 was a ship that was bound from Hong Kong to Tacoma, Washington in the United States. Then while the ship was going through seas a big storm appeared on water, and the ship was struck by
lightning.  The rubber yellow ducks, blue turtles and green frogs have also been floating half of the world. Then it broke down and there were 29,000 rubber yellow ducks, blue turtles and green frogs floating out sea.
Because people from other countries have seen the rubber yellow ducks, blue turtles and green frogs. Another reason is that Curtis Ebbesmeyer has been tracking the rubber yellow ducks, blue turtles and green frogs and says they need them to learn and know how the sea current works.
LI: to identify the main ideas of a text
What I learned were the main ideas of a story, article, or other kind of writing. The main idea is about what they are talking about in the story or article. The main idea also needs a supporting detail, like a cheetah runs fast that's the main idea. The supporting detail is how it runs fast.
How I learned was we did an activity with Mr Ogilvie. We had a story-line and we had to guess the main idea. We had to pick A,B,C or D. Another one was that we did a “Main Idea Summary Frame” we had to think about what was the main idea and tell two supporting details.

Measuring Weight

LI: to learn how to measure weight using scales.
We got into 4 groups but I couldn't go with a group so I went with five people in a group.
We measured our weight and added them as close to one hundred and fifty.
We also had weights of other things, Mr Wong picked for us a Boeing 787 and Gorilla,
We had to pick our choice, so our choice were a bus and a boulder.
Then we added our weights together trying to get as close as the weight of the choices we picked and Mr Wong picked.

Tamaki Wrap

Today we did an experiment on plastic. Before we did the experiment we watched a movie about plastic, plastic is everywhere, mostly everything is made out of plastic. 500 billion plastic bags are made each year. We want a tidy environment, cause if we leave rubbish or plastic on the ground or the sea it will destroy mankind/nature.
Did you know that when the rubbish goes away it goes to the landfill and buries up the rubbish underground, and stays there for eternity.
We got in four groups. There were four tables each one had a activities. So each group went to a table we rotated around so every group gets to play each activity.
One table was about nature how nature looks like when there is no rubbish.
The second one is about us leaving rubbish on the ground and it gets into a drain, and when it gets to the drain sea animals like turtles will eat them.
The third one was about things that are not made out of plastic.
The last one is about making an art piece and make the art out of rubbish.

Newspaper Report

LI: to interact and comprehend a range of narrative texts.
What I learned was to make a newspaper about Matilda using her powers. I learned to retell part of the story.
How I learned was I picked a part of the story to retell and make it into a newspaper report.
