Hauora

LI: to learn the 4 dimensions of the Hauora
We were learning about Hauora. Hauora has 4 dimensions. Those 4 are Physical, Social, Spiritual, and Mental. Physical is when you look after your body, and look at what substances you put in your body. Social is when you go out and talk to people, sharing ideas and opinions. Spiritual is you morals, values, your beliefs, and your self-worth. Mental is someone who is always positive and bright.

For our Must Do we had to make a Poster, Animation, Movie, and Skit on one of the 4 dimensions of Hauora. So for our poster we were focusing on Social Well Being. On our animation we were focusing on Mental/Emotional Well Being. For our movie we were focusing on Physical Well Being. Lastly for our skit we were focusing on Spiritual Well Being.

This week we had Duffy Assembly. Our Duffy Role Model was Robert Rakete. He is the morning presentor of BREEZE which is a New Zealand Radio Station. He also was in Dancing with the Stars, and is the Brown Wiggle in Wiggles. He was talking about how he loved reading and his favourite book was the "Astrix".

Imaginative Recount (Events & Ending)

LI: to write a imaginative recount
We carried on writing the Imaginative Recount on "Little Red Riding Hood". An Imaginative Recount is when you take a story and take a character from the story and use their perspective to write a recount. For this week we wrote the Events and the Ending. Me and my partner took the perspective of Little Red Riding Hood. We used a slide deck give to us, and write our events and ending on the slide deck.

Tongue Twisters

LI: to develop pronunciation
On extras was a Tongue Twister activity. There was a tongue twister we had to do and we had to record ourselves doing it. There were choices we could pick from like: She sells seashells by the seashore, or he threw three free throws, or you could do your own. The tongue twister I did was "She sells seashells by the sea shore"

Term 1 Kiwican Overview

LI: to recap everything we did in Kiwi Can
Today in Kiwican we recapped all of our learning from Kiwi Can this term. Our big theme was Positive Relationships. Our three modules or topics were: Positive Communication, Cooperation, Friendship.

We made three groups. Each group talked about the 5 W's and H for one of the modules. After we talked as a group, each group share their ideas back to the class. I enjoyed Kiwican this term because the games were apart of our learning. They had something in the game that had an aspect of one of the three modules. I've learnt a lot about Communication, but one thing that really hit me was that there were a lot of ways to communicate with people. I also need to be better at communication.

Statistics Presentation

LI: to learn something about the class or school using statistics
This week was the final week of Statistics. For this week we had to make gather what we did and learnt for the past few weeks into a presentation. We then had to present our information and our work to the class. We were scored on what we were doing.

We scored on Delivery and Content. Delivery meant we had to speak up, and use eye contact. The point system was 1 point if only one person spoke clearly, two points of two or three people spoke clearly, and 3 points if everyone spoke clearly.

Content meant we had to have a really detailed presentation. One point is for one aspect, two points for two or three aspects, and 3 points for four or more aspects.

Our team got 6 out of 6 points.

Soldier Infographics

LI: to unlock keywords to summarise a text
We were carrying on with our Soldier Infographics. The item I picked was a portrait of a person. The person was Harriet Simeons. We had to make an Infographic of her. In the Infographic we had to include the 5 W's and the H. We had to be really explicit and detailed. For example: If we were writing the When, it would have to be about when she died, when she enlisted and more.

Ki O Rahi

LI: to learn the real game of Ki O Rahi
We played the game of Ki O Rahi. There are two teams in Ki O Rahi. Ki Oma and Taniwha. Taniwha gets points by throwing the Ki to the Tupu (The Rock), Taniwha team are only allowed in Te Roto and Te Ao. Ki Oma score by touching the Ki to the Pou (Teeth) and scoring a try by getting the Ki to Pawhero (Island), they are only allowed to be in Te Ao, but if they are going to get a try they can go through Te Roto and get to Pawhero.

The Game starts by a kick. A kicker from Ki Oma (Te Marama) has to kick the Ki to the Keitiaki. The Keitiaki have to catch it or its a handover to Taniwha. When the Keitiaki catch they have to pass it to one of the Ki Oma members. We also had rippa tags. If a person that has the Ki, and one of their tags are ripped its a pass. If both are ripped its a handover to the next team.

My team won 11 - 7.

Hauora

LI: to learn about Hauora
We were learning about Hauora. Hauora is our well being. In Hauora are 4 dimensions. They are Physical, Mental, Social, and Spiritual.

So for our Must Do we had to pick an object that had four things to make that object work. For example a car has four wheels, even if one is flat you can't drive it. Or you have a house all four walls need to be strong to hold the roof, if you even have one weak wall the house will still collapse. We then had a sheet and we had a bunch of scenarios. We had to fit it in Physical, Social, Mental, or Spiritual Well Being. We then had the same sheet but then had to put in our own scenarios.

We also learned the Maori names of Hauora.
Physical: Taha Tinana
Mental Taha Hinengaro
Social: Taha Whanau
Spiritual: Taha Wairua

Times Tables

LI: to learn by basic facts
For Basic Facts I had to answer math equations which are either Addition, Subtraction, Division, and Multiplication. I did Multiplication and it took me 3 minutes and 26 seconds to finish all the questions.

No!

LI: to build Positive Relationships
Today in Kiwican we were learning about friendship. We learnt that there are times we can say "No!". We talked about situations were it is ok to say "No!". We discussed different ways to say "No!" that don't cause disrespect and doesn't seem rude. We did an activity called "Empathy Roleplay". A group acted out a situation and as a class we needed to decide the way to say "No!".

Our options of say "No!" were:
 - No thanks
 - Lets do something else
 - That's not a nice thing to do
 - It's just not my thing

Harold Hallenstein Fels

LI: to research a range of sources to find information
This week we also were talking and kept on learning about Keywords, and Summarising. Keywords are the main and important word in a text. Summarising is to retell a text. Now to practise that we are researching on a soldier from WWl. It had to be a real soldier who fought in WWl. We picked a soldier by picking an replica of a real artifact given to us.

Cleaning Data

LI: to learn something about the class or school using statistics
From the graph we made last week we had heaps of responses. We had to get our results and clean up the data. What I mean by cleaning up data is like fixing up doubles, organising it in a better way, and more. The question we had to answer about the school was: Where is the most popular place to sit and rest in the school? Statistics is gathered information in an organised way. Data is the results, responses , or information in the statistics.

Imaginative Recount

LI: to write an imaginative recount
We learnt how to write an imaginative recount. A Imaginative Recount is when you take a fictional story and you kind of turn it into a recount. You take a character from the story and use their POV (Point of View). We had a slide deck given to us and we had to write a Imaginative Recount using the story "Little Red Riding Hood". We had to come up with a new title idea, come up with our plan, and write our Reveal.
