Faulty Reasoning

 LI: to understand faulty reasoning
Faulty reasoning is arguing or talking with someone but your facts or statistics on't make sense or aren't true. There are different types of Faulty Reasoning. There is Illogical assumptions which is making up assumptions but probably have other factors or influences, like "The teacher gave the student detention because he didn't like the student". But the student probably got detention because of what they were doing or saying.Another is Circular Reasoning which is supporting a claim but repeating the claim. For example: "Stephen Curry is the best dribbler because he dribbles so well". That's just repeating the same thing. Next is Over Generalisation which is making a global statement when there probably are other exceptions. For example "Football is the best sport in the world! Everybody loves Football!". Not everybody likes football. Another is Biased Argument which is saying a statement just because of your own personal feelings like "Panmure Bridge School has long lunchtimes, Panmure Bridge School is the best!". Lastly there is Contradiction which is providing a claim that goes against your claim. For example: "We should ban school uniform because it promotes fairness and equality!". That's going against your argument!

Our task was to fill in a draw which had each of the different types of Faulty Reasoning. We had to write in the definition and a example of the Faulty Reasoning. Next we had a text with the different types of Faulty Reasoning in them, the Faulty Reasoning were there but we had to match it with the type of Faulty Reasoning. We then had a bunch of sentences that were Faulty Reasoning and we had to match them with the type. We then had three text we had to read them and find the Faulty Reasoning and write down the type.
