This week I went to Kiwi Can and Mr Malu and Miss Latoya was there. When we got to Kiwi Can we went straight to an activity. We were playing some relays. We had to get into two groups and had a skipping rope. We had to skip to a cone go around it and skip back to your group. My group one the first challenge. Then we played something a little similar. But more easier. You had to run to the cone skip 10 times and run back to your group. Next activity was a ball game. We had to stay in our group we were in. We had a ball and we had to catch the ball and put on the ground so that is one. We had 3 rounds of the game. Eventually my team won. 3 - 1. Then we played a elimination game. We were walking around then Miss Latoya shouted out a number and we had to get into a group of that number Miss Latoya shouted.

Kiwi Sport
LI: learning throwing skills
This Thursday I went to KiwiSport.
The first thing we played was called Fruit Salad. We had four groups and our group name would have to be a fruit. There was Banana, Cherries, Apples, and Watermelons. Andy - KiwiSport teacher would say two of the groups name and those two groups would have to switch positions. At the middle was Mr Ogilvie he was the fruit basket. If Andy shouted out "Fruit Basket!" we would all have to go to the person that is the fruit basket. After that we did some throwing with shot put balls. We had to get with a partner and Andy told us the skills we needed.
Skills:
Hold the ball under you jawline, under your ears, and next to your neck
Hold ball with finger tips
Chin knee toe all in a row
Low high, watch it fly
When you throw you do not take the ball away from your neck, you bring your body when you throw including your neck.
Unfortunately this was our last session/lesson with Andy.

Persuasive speech
Persuasive speech plan
My topic: Why kids should have more recess
My argument:
Audience: Minster of Education - Principal - Teacher
How will you greet your audience?
Ladies & Gentlemen, my name is Chris. I am going to say a speech about why kids should have more recess.
|
How will you introduce your topic in a catchy way?
So I am going to talk about why kids should have more recess.
Do you like recess? Do you want a longer one?
|
Write a rhetorical question to make the audience think about your topic:
Do you like recess? Do you want a longer one?
|
What is your opinion? Write a statement that clearly states your point of view:
I believe this because kids can be more closer to their own friends. So they have more of a connection.
|
List some facts or statistics that support your opinion:
Research says recess increases focus. Dr. Olga Jarrett, with her colleagues at Georgia State University’s Department of Early Childhood Education, approached an urban school district that had a no-recess policy. They received permission for two fourth-grade classes to have recess once a week so they could observe the children’s behavior on recess and non-recess days. Their results showed that the 43 children became more on-task and less fidgety on days when they had recess. Sixty percent of the children, including five with attention deficit disorder, worked more and/or fidgeted less on recess days.
|
Do you have a solution to the problem?
Yes and it is letting kids or students have more recess
|
Say your opinion again and warn the audience what will happen if they don’t agree with your opinion.
If you don’t agree with me your kid is not going to focus on his learning, he might even have a bad education when he grows up.
|
Introduction of yourself
Ladies & Gentlemen, my name is Chris. I am going to say a speech about why kids should have more recess.
|
Introduction of topic and Rhetorical question
So I am going to talk about why kids should have more recess.
Do you like recess? Do you want a longer one?
|
POV and why you believe this
I believe this because kids can be more closer to their own friends. So they have more of a connection.
| |
Reason 1
Recess increases kids focus
|
Facts and Statistics
Research says recess increases focus. Dr. Olga Jarrett, with her colleagues at Georgia State University’s Department of Early Childhood Education, approached an urban school district that had a no-recess policy. They received permission for two fourth-grade classes to have recess once a week so they could observe the children’s behavior on recess and non-recess days. Their results showed that the 43 children became more on-task and less fidgety on days when they had recess. Sixty percent of the children, including five with attention deficit disorder, worked more and/or fidgeted less on recess days.
|
Reason 2
Recess reduces a lot of stress
|
Facts and Statistics
Research says that recess reduces stress. The National Association for the Education of Young Children recommends unstructured physical play as a developmentally appropriate means of reducing stress—a valuable benefit given that stress has a negative impact on learning and health. For many children, especially those considered “hyperactive,” recess is an opportunity to expend energy in a healthy, suitable manner. Outside, children can engage in behavior—loud, messy and boisterous—considered unacceptable indoors. And because recess is a break from structure and expectations, children have an opportunity to take control of their world, which is a rarity in their lives.
|
Reason 3
Natural light improves wellness
|
Facts and Statistics
Natural light improves wellness. Sunlight stimulates the pineal gland, which is the part of the brain that helps regulate our biological clock. It is vital to the immune system, and simply makes us feel better. Outside light also triggers the synthesis of vitamin D, which a number of studies have demonstrated increases academic learning and productivity
|
Solution
The solution is that so kids can have a longer recess.
|
Summary
Hi my name is Chris and I am going to say a speech about “Why there should be more recess at school”. Just think about it you can have better social skills and physical skills. Here are some facts. Did you know that recess increases focus and reduces stress. Oh and I’m not done yet. Recess also helps kids develop more social and physical skills. Isn’t that amazing!

LI: to learn about challenges
This week Wednesday we went to Kiwi Can and Mr Malu and Miss Latoya weren't there. There was two new Kiwi Can teachers named Mr Latu and Mrs Pipiha. We did a greeting and went straight to our energiser. It was called the Mili Mili Challenge. We had a lot of actions to do.
Actions:
Bufallo - Oooh
Tiger - Roar
Hehe - Ho!
Hands together - Slap your hands together
So we had to get in a circle and Mr Latu would point at us and say one of the actions and we would have to do it.
After that we were having a little session about what challenges mean.
Then we played a game that was really intense. We had a hoop and three cones. We had to toss the hoop in the cones. There was one cone close to you - 10 points, second cone a little bit far - 20 points, the third one was really far - 50 points. It was a challenge for the whole school.
Then we did a GKQ - General Knowledge Questions

KiwiCan
Today I went to Kiwi Can. First off we went straight into a circle. We played Bip Bop Bounce again. Miss Latoya was pointing at someone in the circle and the person she was pointing at had to say "Bang" before Miss Latoya said Bip, Bop, Bounce. If Miss Latoya didn't say the whole phrase and you said bang the means you are eliminated. The next game we played another game. What we had to do was fit everyone in a circle. We had to think of strategies. If you fit everyone in you go to the next level. There are 4 levels. So when we played that game we were really frustrated. Then Fau told them if we had to put our full body in the circle. But they didn't say we had to so we just put part of our body in the circle. We made it till level because the bell rang and because Liane couldn't reach the circle.
This week we went to Kiwi Can. We were with Mr Malu and Miss Latoya.

Do you have a solution to the problem?
Yes the solution would be to just let kids have a longer recess.
|

My topic: Alcohol should be really expensive
My argument:
Audience: Government

Greetings Government
|
How will you introduce your topic in a catchy way?
Today I am going to talk about why alcohol should be more expensive.
|
Write a rhetorical question to make the audience think about your topic:
Alcohol should be more expensive because people who drink it all day are drunk. But if alcohol was really really expensive they can’t buy it because they don’t have that much cash/money.
|
What is your opinion? Write a statement that clearly states your point of view:
My point of view is that alcohol really should be expensive because they would just have to work harder for money. Then that much people don’t drink anymore.
|
List some facts or statistics that support your opinion:
|
Do you have a solution to the problem?
Is that to make alcohol, wine and anything bad expensive.
|
Say your opinion again and warn the audience what will happen if they don’t agree with your opinion.
If you don’t agree with me people will be drunk and they might have no control of their own body. Someone in your family

|
What is your opinion? Write a statement that clearly states your point of view:
What I mean to say is that kids should be allowed to stay up late. They can sleep when they are tired, and again if it's not healthy why do parents stay up late.
|
List some facts or statistics that support your opinion:
|
Do you have a solution to the problem?
We could put our alarm on until the morning so that wakes us up
|
Say your opinion again and warn the audience what will happen if they don’t agree with your opinion.
If it doesn’t happen the kids won’t learn how to stay up late. What if they have a job when they grow up and they have to stay there all night and day. They sleep in their job.
