Commonwealth Games Poster

LI: To create a DLO showing information about the Commonwealth games. This week for inquiry we had to make a DLO about the Commonwealth games. First we had to find information about the Commonwealth games. We needed to use our smart searching skills to find out information. The things that we had to find was a map of where the Commonwealth games is, how far it is from Panmure Bridge school, how many countries are competing, the motto and logo for this years game, information on 3 New Zealand medalists, who the 3 medalists are, what sports they do, what was their winning time and who Sophie Pascoe is. For the DLO we decided to do a google draw. For the google draw we had to make sure our print design rules were good. The print design rules are text, color, composition and layout. We had to show our DLO to Mr. Wong, so he could check if the print design rules were good. I think that the LS1 minute to win it Olympics is really fun because we get to learn new minute to win it activities every week this term.

Commenting

LI: to learn how to smartcomment
Today I commented on Juels blog post and it was good. He had everything right, but some mistakes to fix up.

Homophones

LI: to identify the difference in meaning between common homophones
Today we were learning about homophones. Homophones are two or more words that have the same pronunciation but have different meanings. Like:
Bare Bear
Blew and Blue
Raw and Roar
Bale and Bail
and just more.
So then we made a DLO about it, we had to make a sentence that has the homophone in it and put a picture that relates to it. Then we would keep going, and going. We got three chance to find our own homophones and do them.

Kiwi Can

LI: to learn Conflict Resolution
Today we went to Kiwi Can and went to our Energizer. Our Energizer was Create Me. We got into groups of 4 and Ms Lily and Mr Matt would say nouns and we would have to make that noun. We played about 5 rounds and got into our lesson time. We had an example. The example was:
There is someone upset by him/herself. What would you do?
Our suggestions were:
Include them
Play with them and more.
But Miss Lily had a great idea, before we did any of that stuff we had to make sure they calmed dow, give them a few time and alone time before they beat you up and then your upset, then someone trys to help you but your not calm so you beat them up, then they get angry. So it's just going to me a merry - go - round that never keeps stopping.
Then we played Stuck in the Mud outside so then it started raining and sadly that was the ed of Kiwi Can.

Minute To Win It Olympic Whakautaki

LI. To create a group whakatauki. This week for inquiry we had to create a group whakatauki. Our whakatauki is 'Work as a team, Improve as a team, co-operate as a team, we strive together'. It represents to strive we have to work together, improve together, and co-operate together. We had to have our motto as well as our team logo.

Smart Values

LI: to compare Smart Values with the PBS Care Values
This week for CyberSmart we did some Smart Values and compared them with our school CARE Values. If you don't know the CARE Values here they are:

Confidence
Attitude
Respect
Excellence and Innovation

The Manaiakalani Smart Values are:
Learning
Hope
Service
Co - operation
Honesty
Respect
Responsibility
Caring
Joy

We got all them all and put them into what Confidence, Attitude, Respect, and Excellence and Innovation. We had to put the Manaiakalani Values into the CARE Values. We put them into the ones we thought would fit in there.
Then for our DLO we picked one of the Manaiakalani and write how they fit in each one of them.
