Basic Fact Boxes

LI: to learn my basic facts
I did my Basic Fact Boxes. It was my Multiplication and my Division. I also timed myself doing the Basic Fact Boxes, it took me two minutes, and twenty three seconds. I was disappointed that I got slower, but I was also pressured because of the time.

Maori

LI: to learn new Maori words
This week for Maori we had a sheet of paper we had to colour in. They had a bunch of fruit in it. We also did an activity in groups. Fire Oari would give us a bunch of cards with food on them. She would ask for them in Maori. Then we would ask them back in Maori.

Tense

LI: to identify the tense verbs: Future Continuous, Simple Present, Past Continuous
This week for Writing we learned more new tenses. We learned Simple Present which is something that generally happens in the present, sometimes in the past, and will probably happen in the future. In Simple Present it is just a <verb>. Past continuous is something that happened in the past that kept happening. In Past Continuous there is was + <verb> + ing. Future Continuous is something that will keep happening. In Future Continuous there is will be + <verb> + ing. So in our DLO (Digital Learning Object) we had to come with twenty verbs, and make seven videos out of twenty. But we had to inflect all of them.

What is Peace?

LI: to explore some definition of peace
This week for Inquiry we first wrote Antonyms, and Synonyms of peace. We did this as a group of five. After we wrote the synonyms and antonyms of peace, we split our group into 2 & 3. Then we went onto our first DLO which was on a slide. On the slide were pictures and we had to describe the pictures by using three words. We also had to make sentences using those three words. Also in each picture we had to write the perspectives of each side. Next we had to describe what peace meant to us on a Google Drawing.

Addition Algorithm

LI: to use algorithm with addition
This week for Maths I made a DLO (Digital Learning Object) on algorithm. I did algorithm using addition up to the millions. In it I had to explain how to do the algorithm. My equation I used as an example was 9,876,543 + 6,785,785 = ? I had to figure it out using algorithm but also explaining it. It was pretty easy doing it.

Kiwi Sport / Boxing

LI: to learn counterattacks
This week for Kiwisport our main task was to learn counterattacks. In each counterattack we learned, it involved one of the ways of defence we've learned. But before we learned any we played Stuck in the Mud. So we had four taggers, tagging people with noodles. If you get tagged you can only get freed by someone going under your legs. But they cannot tag you or the person trying to free you at the process.

Next we learned our first counterattack which was Guard, then jab cross. We did this with a partner, and one person had noodles, the other was with gloves. So the boxer in the pair had to avoid being hit by the noodle by guarding, then countering by jab, cross.

Our second counterattack involved another way of defence. We used the Slip, so if we dodged to the right we would counter with a cross. If we dodged to the left we would counter with a left hook. So the partner had to hit us at the left or right with one noodle and we would have to counter back hitting the other noodle they were holding.

On our third counterattack we had to bridge, which was moving back to dodge an attack. But once we move back we would be to far to attack so we had to move forward then attack with a cross, left hook then cross again.

Lastly on our last counterattack we used the U - roll. Our partner with the noodles, put both of the noodles on one shoulder, and then the boxer had to roll under then uppercut.

Athletics Day

LI: to be athletic
Today on Friday we had Athletics Day in our school. I was in Group A which had Team Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow. So the first activity we started on was the Dancing Activity. In the Dancing Activity people didn't dance much, until the boys in the groups starting dancing.

Next we did the Egg & Spoon Activity. So we had a obstacle course we had to do while we were holding an egg on a spoon. The first obstacle we had were cones. The cones were placed straight but had spaces between them. So we had to zig zag around the cones. Next we had was a chair we had to go all the way around then, the final obstacle was standing on one leg for 3 seconds. Then we had to do that all over again by starting from the end and doing it backwards. It was all the colour teams from Group A versing each other. Sadly the Red Team lost but we still had a lot of fun. But the Yellow Team won.

Our third activity we did was Long Jump. So how it worked was we had a run up, and had a cone, then we had to jump. Then we put the cone where we landed. So when I jumped I landed pretty far so I became first place. I kept the reign of being first place in the Red Team. But not far enough for my team to be first.

Our fourth activity was Ultimate Frisbee. But we didn't have a Frisbee. So we had beam bags. So we had a goal, and we had to throw as much beam bags in there possible in three minutes. So we got split. So it was Blue vs Green, and Yellow vs Red. Yellow went first so they started to throw the beam bags. They managed to get ten in three minutes. When my team which is the Red Team went we managed to get twelve in three minutes.

On our fifth activity we did Rob the Nest. It was really tiring. So in each team there was one tagger which they could tag people and freeze them there. The only way you could free them is by the team member tagging their knees, and double high five them. So no one really won because everyone did so much.

Our sixth activity was Sponge Relay. So we had another obstacle course we had to do. So first we had to jump on our sacks, and get onto our buckets. Then we get a sponge. We run and have to go under a pole, then jump over a rope and put the sponge in the water. Then we have to go back by going from the opposite side.

Our seventh activity was Discus. We had three targets. One was a cone, wicket, and a big stick. We had to throw a hula hoop and make it go through them. The cone was the closest, so it was worth a point, wicket little bit further so two points. The big stick was all the way at the end so it was worth five points.

Finally our last activity was Surf Relays. So we had a bunch of people, laying down looking at the opposite direction of their target. There were three beam bags, and there was a person who had to clap the clapper. When that person clapped we had to run, turn, and go get the beam bags. If you don't you are eliminated. Then goes down to two, then one beam bag. Each team had to verse their own teammate. Then the winner of each team verses each other

Then in the afternoon we had the relays.

Kiwi Can

LI: to respect our environment
This week for Kiwi Can our new theme is Respecting our environment. So we first went into our energiser. Our energiser was four corners. So one person in the middle, and people walking around. Then someone has to say four corners, then the people walking around had to go in one of the corners. Then the person in the middle with their eyes closed has to eliminate a corner with people.

Later we went into our session. We talked about what is respect? What is the environment? What are some of the things we do that affects the enviroment?

Next we went onto our activity which was Invisible Touch. Next we played our activity which was Invisible touch. We had two teams and one referee. The referee would call out a number, and that number has to be the specific amount of people from a team going and playing. So the referee says someone has the invisible ball, if someone touches you from the other team they have the ball. But they can't tag back.

Safe Online Quiz

LI: to learn how to be safe online
For Cybersmart our DLO (Digital Learning Object) we had to make a quiz using Google Form. Our quiz was about being Safe Online. But before I made by Quiz, I was playing a game that had something to do with being Safe Online.

Inferring Thoughts and Emotions

LI: to infer thoughts and emotions
This week for Reading we inferred thoughts and emotions. Our DLO (Digital Learning Object) was watching a video, and from that video we had to inferr the thoughts and emotions from the characters. We also had to include the evidence, to prove our inference. So we had to take the picture of the moment, and link that part of the video. We had to write our inference and then put in our evidence. We had to do this all in a Google Slide.

Commenting

LI: to learn to smartcomment
I commented on Pua's blog-post. In my comment I had to include: a greeting, a question, a connection, and a farewell. In Pua's blog-post he was talking about the Inquiry Task he was doing which was his Trench Warfare slide. I also told him some of the mistakes he did.

Basic Fact Boxes

LI: to learn our basic facts
This week I did my Basic Fact Boxes. I did my Division and Multiplication. I answered all of the questions in One minute, and fifty nine seconds. So it was a little bit hard because you were time pressured.

SSR Selfie / Operation: Secret Recipe

LI: to learn how to summarise text
This week for SSR Selfie I summarised a Geronimo Stilton Book, called Operation: Secret Recipe. So in SSR Selfie, I had to read a book for 15 minutes. Instead I read the whole book. But I had to summarise the book in my own words. So after I wrote my summary, I put a picture of the book.

Tense Videos

LI: to identify verbs and tense
This week for Writing we learned about Past Tense, which are <verb> + ed/d, Present Tense which are, <verb> + ing, Future Tense which are, will + <verb>. So for our DLO (Digital Learning Object) we made a slide, which had a bunch of words. The words were verbs. So we had to make past tense, present tense, and future tense versions of those words. We did Simple Past, Simple Future, and Continuous Present.

What Can You Tell?

LI: to infer information
This week for Reading we did a Reading Strategy called Inferring. Inferring means that someone is saying something, but isn't directly saying it. So for our DLO (Digital Learning Object) we have a slide, an on the slide we had pictures. We had to infer from the pictures. This was also a partner activity. We had our on slides, but had to have the same answers. Me and my partner also discussed about our inferences.

Kiwi Sport / Boxing

LI: to learn about defence in boxing
This week for Boxing we learned about defence. We learned four ways of defending/protecting ourselves. So we first got with our partners, and learned a defence. It was called "Guard". It was easy, so we had to be in our rock position. Then we just had our arm guarding our whole face, but we needed a little gap to see. So we had to do that, at the same time while our partner was hitting us with noodles. We had to be on time to guard ourselves.

Next was called the "Bridge". We just had to move back. So we had to be in our Rock Position, and push back from the front leg to move. So we had to dodge the noodle.

Our third way of defence was the "Slip". So we were in our rock position and had to move our head away, but not too or we'll lose our balance.

Our last way of defence was called "U-roll". Which is when we turn our head in a U shape, but you also have to move your head as well.

Division Animation

LI: to learn do Division and explaining it in a different way
This week for Maths I did an animation about Division. I am going to explain Addition, Subtraction, and Multiplication in the next three weeks. I'm going to explain them all in different ways. So my equation I had to do for my Division Animation was to figure out, ⅓ of twenty four, and ¼ of twenty four. So we had to explain that in animation.

Trench Warfare

LI: to learn about trenches
This week we learned about trenches and how they were used. Before World War One people used trenches to trap the enemies, and shoot them down with Bows and Arrows. Nowadays people use trenches for defence. So in our slide we wrote about the bad health conditions, and about the trenches. We also talked about No Mans Land.

Kiwi Can

LI: to be respectful
This week for Kiwi Can we first went into our Energizer. Our energizer was called Tunnel Ball. So we made a space between our legs, and made a circle, and we only had one hand to use. There was a ball in the middle and you have to get the ball between the space of the legs.

Next we had a session about respecting our community. We talked about what is a community? What are things in the community? What can you do to make your community safe, and caring?

Then we went onto our activity which was Hand Soccer. There were two teams. Each team member was named a number, then someone would call out that number, or two numbers, or three, etc. Then we had to get it in the goal using our hands. The teams were called "Funky Monkeys", and "The Alphas".

Maori Food

LI: to learn the words of food in maori
This week we made posters, we had topics of food and had to write them in Maori. We did a Maori Meals poster, and Maori Meat poster. Before that we watched a video that had a bunch of Maori stories. In the video it had Maui fishing up the north island, the two gods being separated by their sons, Maui's hook from his grandmothers jawbone.

Commenting

LI: to learn how to smartcomment
This week I commented on Andrew blog - post, he had a good blurb. But he didn't have that much on his blog - post. I told him what he needed, and what he did good, so he could do the changes.

Mounted Art

LI: to mount my art
This week we did the final steps of our artwork. We first wrote what our quatrefoils represent. Then we had to layout our work on a sheet of paper. Then we measured how big our piece of writing was going to be then glue our piece of writing, and our art on a big sheet of paper. We also had to put a our name on the bottom right corner.

Basic Facts Boxes

LI: to learn my basic facts

SSR Selfie

LI: to summarise and read a text
SSR Selfie is where you read a book and write your own summary of that book. The book I summarised was Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel. I wrote my summary of the book and put an image of the book there.

Kiwi Sport | Boxing

LI: to learn many combos
The first thing we did at Kiwisport was get into partners. One partner has the gloves, and the other has noodles to hit his partner with. So the person with the noodle has to do a soft high five with their partner. So the first combo we did was the: jab, jab, cross. Our partner had to hit us with the noodles, while the other had to do the combo on the noodles.

The second combo we learned was: jab, cross, left hook, cross. We did the same thing as we did with the first combo. Our partner had to hit us with the noodles, while the other had to do the combo on the noodles.

So then our last combo we learned was: jab, cross, left hook, right hook, left uppercut, and right uppercut. We had to memorise all of those and try them. When we did that our partners switched and did it all over again.

When both partners did all the combos we were on a press up stance and high five each other, while on the press up stance. We did twenty of those then headed back to class.

Kiwi Can

LI: to respect out community
This week at Kiwi Can we talked about Respecting our community. But we first went onto our Energizer. Our energizer was called remote. So one person has specific commands to say. If you don't do the commands you are out. He or she can also say false commands to trick you and get you out.

When we finished playing we talked about what are in our community (Panmure). Then we talked about what are some people who help us and are important in our community. Next we played our activity which was Invisible touch. We had two teams and one referee. The referee would call out a number, and that number has to be the specific amount of people from a team going and playing. So the referee says someone has the invisible ball, if someone touches you from the other team they have the ball. But they can't tag back. We had a great time and my team won!.

Then we recapped on what we talked about Respecting our community.

Maori

LI: to learn about paikea
This week the first thing we did for Maori was read a story called "Clay Woman". It was about the God of Forest who was very lonely, but had a lot of animals to keep him company. So he asked his mother for advice and told him "Listen to your heart". He was really confused so he digs his hands in the earth and makes a woman out of clay. Then he sneezed on the clay woman and it came to life! After we read the story we made a poster. In the poster we needed to explain Paikea, the Ngati Porou Tribe, put the Paikea song, put on the Tuhuhu of Ngati Porous Marae.

Maori / Paikea

LI: to learn about the story Paikea
Mrs Fire Oari read us a story called Paikea. Paikea is a story of a man who had a bother, his brother was jealous of his mana. So he decided to kill him, by drowning him. So the ancestors sent a whale to save the brother. So the whale took him to places all around. But then the whale stopped at New Zealand. In New Zealand` the man had three wives and had a big family, going down to generation, and generation.

Kiwi Can

LI: to be respectful
This week we had a new topic which was Respect our Community. We talked about what thing we could do to respect our community. Then we went into our energizer. It was called Catch me if you can. We had our left hand out, and our right hand pointing down. Everyone had to do that in a circle. Then in your left hand, someones right hand would be on your left hand, and your right hand would be on someones left hand. Then someone in the middle would say go. Then you would try to have to catch someones hand with your left, and escape with your right.

After we went onto our session. Then we played a game called 10 second tag. We went outside. Someone was in, and only had 10 seconds to tag someone. If you didn't you would be out. When we finished playing we went back to class.

Art Work

LI: to learn how to make a piece of art work
I made three quatrefoils. One was Max Gimblett Style, Armistice Style, and Christmas Style. They all meant something to me. The Max Gimblett Style actually represents my national flag. Which is the Burmese Flag. I wanted it to represent my own culture. The Armistice Style has poppies to represent the contribution of soldiers. The silhouette is for the soldiers who lost their lives in battle to let their country have freedom. The Christmas Style has snow because I've been to Canada.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

LI: to make movies for humor, also to make movies entertaining and educational
On November the 7th we headed to the Hoyts Cinemas to see the best movies from the Manaiakalani Cluster. In the cinemas we were with St Patricks. Our movie was called a " A bit dicey". It was based on our LS1 Minute to win it Olympics, in that we had to write some stuff fictional. Our movie was a Kung Fu fight dub parody. It was really funny and enjoyable.

Armistice Day

LI: to learn about the causes, conflict & resolution in World War One
This week we are doing a DLO about Armistice day. We had to work with a partner. In our DLO we had to listen to a song called the “Last Post”. The Last Post is a song for telling people that war time is over, also the Last Post is a song of remembrance for those people who sacrificed their lives for us. We listened to two version one was played using a trumpet, and the other electric guitar. Then we listened to two poems. One was “For the Fallen”, and the other was Ode of the Remembrance. We had to write information about “For the Fallen”, and write why we say the Ode of Remembrance still to this day. Then we talked about Poppies, and talked about why it’s still used.

SSR Selfie

LI: to learn how to summarise books with our own words
This week for SSR Selfie I read Captain Underpants and the Invasion if the Incredibly Naughty Cafeteria Ladies from Outer Space (and the subsequent assault of the equally evil lunchroom zombie nerds). I had to write my own short summary of the book. I think the book is good, and funny.

WW1 / New Weapons / Battles in WW1

LI: to learn about the causes, conflict & resolution in World War One
This week for inquiry we went onto the WW1 interactive notebook and filed in two of the slides, the first slide was about the new weapons that were invented. The categories were air weapons, sea weapons, and land weapons. We had to have three weapons for each categories. I was in charge of the land weapons, Lukah was in charge of the air weapons, and Mojtaba was in charge of the water weapons. We had to put photos of the weapons. In the the last box we had to write what the difference was. The second slide was about the battles of world war 1. In this slide their were question and we had to find answers to them by using the websites that were linked in our slides.

Evaluating

LI: to evaluate writing samples using the PBS Writing rubric
This week for Writing we evaluated our easttle text. We had to find the parts from our story that involved with Structure and Language. Our text was a recount. So for structure we had to find the main parts for reveal, the main events we had in our events, and the personal reflection in the ending. For language features we had to find: past tense, first person, and time connective words. When we highlighted the main parts, we had to highlight it in Gray.

Interactive Storybook: U - Turn

LI: to analyse a story and find the conflict and resolution
This week for Reading we read a story called U - turn. We had to find the conflict and resolution. Our DLO we had to make was to make a interactive storybook. We had to have questions and have the answers, but we needed it to be interactive. Each group needed a specific amount of questions. We needed to write the character, conflict resolution, figures of speech, and vocabulary questions.

Math Problems

LI: to learn how to make a problem using fractions
This week for Maths we made a problem, using fractions. When we finished making our questions we added illustrations to let people understand a bit more. Our questions were based of a question we used in our test. In my group I had: Mojtaba, and Lukah.
