Kiwi Can
LI: to learn how to respect each other no matter what
This week I went to Kiwi Can with Group A and we got into groups. I was in Group 2. The first thing we did was talk about what was the Topic? What is Respect? How do you Respect? Also why do we Respect each other?
Then we went to do a energizer is Greetings. When we would do the greeting we would have to do a action.
The first greeting was Hello, when we would say hello we would shake hands. When we would say Bula, we would have a big smile. When we would say Namaste, we would bow down.
Next was a game that we would have a object and turn it into something else. Like for example a mini Beanbag could be a waffle the square ones. We only had two equipment for this one, so it was the beanbag and a soccer ball. We all really opened our imaginations. Then we had a elimination game. I LOVE elimination games. They are so intense, your really focusing on trying not to get out. So we had to be in partners and form a circle in the inside and one on the outside. Miss Latoya would say "Buddy Up!" and we would have to switch places. If Miss Latoya shouted out "Buddy Down!" we would have to get down. If Miss Latoya said "Buddy Right!" the person on the outside circle would have to run around the circle and go back to their spot. Last Person is eliminated #him or her and their partner. If Miss Latoya said "Buddy Left!" the person one the outside would have to run to the left and go back to their spots. Last person is eliminated him or her and their partner. Unfortunately that was all the time we had so we had to go to Morning Break.

Then after we finished we would swap and then Mr Wong showed us how to make a data of it. We had a heap of choices but we wanted to pick the Pie Data.
Kiwisport
LI: to learn how to play badminton
Today I went to Badminton with Group A. Then first thing we did was play a warm up game with Kevin (who is our Kiwisport Teacher). Our warm up game was Octopus. The rules of Octopus is:
Get a group of people that are more than two.
Pick a person that is the tagger. (If you have a lot of people maybe you should have two or three taggers)
Start game
The taggers have to pick a category for example: Whoever has blue on their clothing or the Taggers shout out "OCTOPUS!". That means everyone has to try to get past them.
After that we got taught a skill from Kevin called "The Forehand Lift". It is a skill to beat your opponent. While the opponent serves you hit the shuttle at the far back of their side so they can't reach. It is kinda like the Fore hand serve instead of you dropping it, it comes to you.
Then we went with pairs/partners/buddies to practice the Forehand Lift. The partner would be underarm throwing the shuttle at you and you do the Forehand Lift to try to not let them catch.
After that we did a one on one rally with each other. I got really excited to do this by myself. Luckily I bated a couple of people , but still unfortunately lost a few games.

Firefighter Visit
LI: to learn about firefighters
This week Tuesday I went to the Fire station at Panmure in Pilkington St for a trip with Learning Space One. We first had to walk to the Fire Station and it took 15 minutes to get there. It was a really exciting time going there as well. The first thing was that the Firefighters introduced themselves. First thing that we did was asking questions about what they do on a daily or regular basis as a Firefighter. I asked them how long have each of them done the job? They answered "I have been doing this for ten years/decade, he has for thirteen years, he has done it for twenty years/two decades, and he did it for twenty eight years." I was really shocked of how much each of them done the job for so long.
Next we went outside to talk about the Fire Truck, uniform, hoses and more questions. He told us first about the uniform he and the other Firefighters wear when they go to a fire. After that they showed us bits and pieces and things about the truck, we also asked more questions talking about the truck. Following on he showed us three different hoses. There was a small hose that sprayed out a little bit of water but with a lot of momentum, force, and pressure. Next was a hose that was big hose that shot out a huge pile of water but with little pressure. Later on he showed us another hose that was like a machine gun. He also sprayed some water on us. I was so glad because I was so burning hot, I was sweating. Then we thanked them for letting us join them and went back to school.
