Firefighter Visit

LI: to learn about firefighters
This week Tuesday I went to the Fire station at Panmure in Pilkington St for a trip with Learning Space One. We first had to walk to the Fire Station and it took 15 minutes to get there. It was a really exciting time going there as well. The first thing was that the Firefighters introduced themselves. First thing that we did was asking questions about what they do on a daily or regular basis as a Firefighter. I asked them how long  have each of them done the job? They answered "I have been doing this for ten years/decade, he has for thirteen years, he has done it for twenty years/two decades, and he did it for twenty eight years." I was really shocked of how much each of them done the job for so long.

Next we went outside to talk about the Fire Truck, uniform, hoses and more questions. He told us first about the uniform he and the other Firefighters wear when they go to a fire. After that they showed us bits and pieces and things about the truck, we also asked more questions talking about the truck. Following on he showed us three different hoses. There was a small hose that sprayed out a little bit of water but with a lot of momentum, force, and pressure. Next was a hose that was big hose that shot out a huge pile of water but with little pressure. Later on he showed us another hose that was like a machine gun. He also sprayed some water on us. I was so glad because I was so burning hot, I was sweating. Then we thanked them for letting us join them and went back to school.
