Tech Reflection

LI: to learn about woodwork and the tools needed to use
For Tech this week we were continuing on with our projects and wood. We first learnt about a lot of tools needed to use for this week or part of the wood work. To complete and finish our project we had to use tools such as a saw to cut off segments of the wood, a chisel and mallet to chip off parts of the wood not needed. Lastly a ruler and a pencil to find our measurements. It was really fun doing this because I got to use and learn a lot of tools, and was able to do it with my friends.

Maori Place Names | Te Reo Challenges

For the Te Reo Maori challenge we had to write the Maori Place Names. On the post we had to make a map showing each location in Maori, and translate it back into English. In my map all the locations I have pinpointed were in New Zealand, cities like Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Gisborne. Each place I pinpointed has both the Te Reo Maori and English translation. It was really fun doing this activity as I got to see many cities of Aoteroa, New Zealand.

Celebrating the Summer Learning Journey

LI: to celebrate the Summer Learning Journey

Today PBS celebrated this years Summer Learning Journey with Mrs Grant and Miss Paleti. I really enjoyed the activities and task that were set for us during the Summer, especially the experiments and adventurous task set by Nano Girl. Mrs Grant and Miss Paleti came to Panmure Bridge School to present us the certificates to all the participants of the Summer Learning Journey, and prizes to all the top bloggers of our school. Our first place prize winner was Sakshi who was the top blogger of the whole Summer Learning Journey competition, as well as top commenter of our school.

PB4L | Correct Uniform

LI: to learn about the correct uniform you should be wearing in school

For Cybersmart or PB4L (Positive Behaviour 4 Learning) we were learning about what correct uniform and correct accessorises we should be wearing at school. Such as shoes, and accessories like rings, etc. In my DLO we talk about why wearing correct uniform is crucial in school, what uniform our school wears, the correct shoes you should be wearing, and then the correct accessories you should be wearing.

Tech Reflection

LI: to learn about wood carvings and making our own designs using joints

The Year 8s were learning more about wood carving. This week we started making our own wood carvins. The model I wanted to make was a holder for a phone. We first started getting an idea by being shown and taught the basics by out teacher Mr Grundy. We then got our piece of wood, piece of paper, and a ruler to draw out the measurement and our design. It was really fun doing something new and it was even more enjoyable doing it with me friends. Tech

Chromebook Hold

LI: to give a helpful tip to people about Cybersmart

Our Cybersmart activity was to give a tip about Cybersmart. It could be anything like cleaning your drive or even something like organizing your bookmarks. My tip was about how to hold a chromebook in the proper manner or the proper way. I feel like this is a good tip, because Panmure Bridge is a digital school and start using chromebooks at Yr 4. In my DLO it shows a photo of me on how to hold a chromebook, and instructions on how you should hold it. Then lastly why you should hold it like that.

Numbers Bank

LI: to have a deeper understanding on Place Value

Our Maths were about rearranging a choice of numbers into the largest and smallest number. We had to try to make the biggest and smallest six digit number. So this activity was helping us have a deeper understanding with numbers and place value. We also had to try to make the biggest and smallest six digit number with a specific number at a certain place value, for example like having the number 2 at the hundred thousand position.

Outside the Box

LI: to think outside the box, to be creative and finish the picture

Outside the Box is an art activity. Its a really fun and enjoyable activity. The activity is to try to make a random shape into an art. The shape was a squiggly line as you can see in the waves in the river. My artwork is suppose to be a river with waves coming down the stream. I think I did a pretty good job. I really like the colour scheme I did. This was super fun because I was able to express my creativity into this artwork like it says in the Learning Intention.

Panda Research

L.I:  To use our smart searching skills to find information about the giant panda

Our activity for today was researching about Giant pandas.  We created paragraphs to inform interesting facts and things about giant pandas. In our task we had to write down information about pandas on a note sheet. After writing down our information we wrote down paragraphs. The paragraphs was basically used to sum up our information that we wrote down on our note sheet. After writing everything down we created a DLO which had all the information about Giant pandas.  We found this activity interesting and also gave us the opportunity to find out more about Giant Pandas and how they survive in the wild.  One interesting fact I learnt about Giant pandas is that they consume around 44lb (20kgs) of bamboo.

How to attribute an Image

Our activity was to make a DLO showing how to attribute an image or picture to show gratitude to the provider of the image. In my DLO I showed step by step how to attribute an image from pressing tools and usage rights, to giving credit by linking the provider and the license. This activity was great doing because it shows people how to and give people awareness on the fact that these pictures and images are not ours. If using it we should give credit to the owner and provider of the image we are using for ourselves.

Virtual Adventure

Our activity was to create a map of all the places and destinations we would like to go to but the places had to be the capital of that country. I myself only included 5 different countries or capitals, and the majority of them were Asian countries. The countries I included were South Korea, Japan, Thailand, The UK, and Singapore.

This activity was fun doing because I got to explore these countries, and my favorite country out of those 5 were Thailand.

Tech Reflection

For Tech, this term we are learning about how to carve wood. Our teacher was Mr Grundy. He firstly taught us the rules of the workshop and told us a lot of safety guidelines. We first learnt about the joint which was the first thing to making a wood carving. We then started sketching some ideas and joints. We had to draw 8 different wood carving sketches.
