Miracle on the Hudson

LI: to complete the Summer Learning Journey
This task is from the Summer Learning Journey. This years topic for the Summer Learning Journey is Change - makers. The task was to write a recount when you were brave or someone you knew was brave. This task was based off of the Miracle on the Hudson. Mr Chesley Sullenberger was a pilot and on one particular flight both the engines on his plane shut down. So he had to make a emergency landing on the Hudson River. The Miracle on the Hudson was that all 155 people on the plane survived even though it was a major emergency.

Recount:
One time me and my family went swimming. My cousin who was a toddler at a time went pretty far into the pool. He went into the deep lane, and my other cousin jumped into the pool and scooped him out. My uncles and aunties were panicking.

  1. Hi Chris, this is Mrs Collins from Manaiakalani and I'll be commenting on blogs over term break. Well done on posting and participating in the SLJ this year. I really like the narrative you shared about being brave... sometimes being brave can be fun too, I'm glad you enjoyed the courage you showed! Keep blogging, and commenting on others, to increase your chance of winning one of the awesome prizes and to keep up your learning over the school break!

  3. Ciao Chris! Wow, that was really brave and genuine of you - And it's honestly great to see you looking out for your cousin. Hopefully you've influenced him to do the same for others...After all, you would've wanted somebody do the same to you if you were in that situation! What did you take away from that experience? Great job!

  4. Hi Chris,
It was pretty lucky that one of your cousins managed to jump in and save your other cousin. It's good that he didn't drown and your cousin managed to scoop him out in time. Have you experienced any other close calls in your life? If so, how life-threatening was it?
