Rosa Parks

LI: to complete the Summer Learning Journey.
The task was to pick my own politician or activity to talk about. I had to write down their name, a description of what they do, and an explanation of what they have done to change the world.

I picked Rosa Parks she is an activist. She was one of the people who protested against the segregation laws, and made a small act that created a big one. She was one of the influential people who were fighting for the rights of the African Americans. She has made an huge impact to not only the African Americans but the world.

  2. Hi Chris! Rosa Parks is definitely a great role model, and made a huge impact on society and communities. What she did was really amazing and inspirational. Something everyone should take away from her story, is to always stand for what's right. Another great post!

  3. Kia ora Chris,

Nice blue sky is out, definitely a day for the beach I reckon! What are you getting up to this weekend? I am working on my last day the ASB classic tennis tournament and might go watch a movie with some friends. Talking about movies what is your favourite movie? :)

I really love your choice of person to talk about because Rosa Parks. It is so sad to think that people were being punished simply for the colour of their skin and unfortunately it is still happening in our world. Rosa Parks will always be remembered for how brave and inspiring she was in standing up for herself and for all Coloured and Black people. She is actually one of my idols because of how strong and brave she is and unfortunately when these kinds of incidents have happened to me, I remember how she stood up for herself and it helps me stand up for myself. Do you have an idol that you look up to or someone who reminds you to be brave?

Just a gentle reminder that the Manaiakalani cluster team and I are in the middle of going through your blog posts and tallying up points at the moment. While we do that don't forget, now that you've finished the programme, you can earn many more bonus points and help encourage other students to finish the SLJ programme by leaving thoughtful comments on other students' SLJ related blog posts!

  5. Hi Chris,
I like the blog post you have made about Rosa Parks. I think that she was a great woman to stand up for her rights and to refuse to move seats when she was told. She was an essential part of the equal rights campaign that took place in America. What do you think was going through her mind when she got taken to jail by the police?
