LI: To collect materials needed to successfully complete our weekly superpower building missions with Nano Girl.
This morning LS2 were helping the Year 4s starting the Summer Learning Journey. It was the Year 4s first Summer Learning Journey. In PBS the school is still open so finding the materials and tools needed for the experiment was tough. It was really fun, we had NanoGirl teaching us what to do and what to find. We are really looking forward to doing the experiment. I found this activity by doing the Summer Learning Journey an I am looking forward to doing the experiments and future activities.
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteI really liked reading your blog post today. The thing I liked the most is that you have made a photo montage as the background of your screencastify. The detailed blurb and the screencastify makes the task more detailed. I also enjoyed completing this task because the out come is still a surprise and we need to find it out. What other materials do you think can be used while making this activity?
Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the comment, I really appreciate it. I feel we could maybe use a glass bottle rather than a empty plastic bottle, but I am not entirely sure. Are there any items you are missing?
DeleteThank you for the comment!
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteThank you for answering my question. I agree, we can't really guess what we might need as we will come to know about it step by step. I think a glass bottle can be used in several ways while doing the experiment. It can be used to make a telescope, as some people said that they are chances we might make one. What five words come in your mind when you think about this activity?
Keep up the great work!
Hi Sakshi, thanks for replying back again. For me now my perspectives have changed and suggest that a glass bottle might be a stretch as it might be dangerous when dropped or cracked. Five words when I think about the activity are: Experiment, Catapult, Tools, Excitement, an Anticipation.
DeleteWhat do you think is going to be the results of the experiment?
Thanks!
Hi Chris,
DeleteThank you for replying to my answer again. Sorry for not answering the previous question, I still don't have a plastic bottle as we couldn't find one. For this question, I think we can make a scale and a telescope. We can make a scale by using the thread and putting the weights on both the sides where as for a telescope we can use the cardboard roll and the string as the neck tie. What did you find interesting in this activity?
Thank you for answering! I am looking forward for your reply.

Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteI really like reading your blogpost today. The things that I like is the photo collage, the detailed blurb, and your screencastify. Are their any materials that you can think of that can be used in this activty?
Talk to you later,
David
Mingalaba David! Thanks for the comment you've posted. Thank you for all the compliments you have given me. I feel that rather than an empty plastic bottle a glass bottle might work. But I feel that its a bit of a stretch.
DeleteWhat do you think we're making for this experiment?
Thanks!
Talofa Lava Chris!
ReplyDeleteIts great to see you and your partner collaborating together to make this video! You guys spoke really well and confidently. I have also completed this Summer Learning Journey task and found it really fun. Although my partner and I never had all the required items we improvised and used anything that was suitable as a replacement. With the items we had gotten, my partner and I made a prediction that the creation would need weight and balance as a main aspect.
What do you think you could make with these items and why?
Hope to see more activities on your during the summer learning journey!

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your blog post blurb and enjoyed watching your video about the scavenger hunt challenge from Nano Girl. Your group spoke very confidently and also made it easier to understand the activity you guys had been set.
What do you think you can make from these items you and your group had gathered?
Keep up the great work!!

ReplyDeleteBenjamin here again.
I’m a bit late here commenting sorry! It’s cool that I have hindsight now and I can see what these materials are for! Did you have a go making the columns or the xylophone? I suppose you weren’t allowed to take the materials home with you from school…
The screencastify was really sweet, you all spoke well together as a team :).
Hope you’re enjoying your break!
Regards,
Benjamin
