Insect Art

LI: to learn more about insects and art in a combined form

For our fourth activity of the Summer Learning Journey, we had to make an insect with leaves and plants. It was really fun doing this task. I was able to go outside with my friends and find some plants and leaves to make my piece of art. Using what I had I made an ant, it doesn't look like a masterpiece but I am really proud of it. I used an olive and stuck two sticks to make the antennas. I used a brown leave for the legs, and some more sticks for the legs of the ant.

I read your blog post and really enjoyed it, it is detailed and gives us proper information. I really like your choice of selections and it made me think, where did you find these materials? Other then that good job!

  3. Kia ora Chris,

What an amazing insect that you created!!
I love how you used outside materials like sticks, leafs and many more resources.

If you had the same resources what bug would you create?
Keep up with the hard work Chris!!

  4. Hi Chris,

Wow! The design you made looks amazing! It is a perfect example to show someone. I liked the way you have same sizes of twigs because it was really very hard for me to find one. I also like how you have added a seed as it head. I also liked the background that you have chosen as it makes the design stand out. Next time try to add some interesting facts as it helps the reader to know more about the insect you made. Can you name the most common species of ant in New Zealand? Do you know something more about them?

Keep up the great work! I am looking forward for your reply.

  6. Hello Chris,

    Wow!
Your insect art design is amazing. I think that you are really creative for using an olive as a head and poking sticks into it to make it look like an ant. I also enjoyed reading your blurb as you made it clear what it was you had to do and what you made and how you felt about doing this activity.

Next time maybe you could add facts about your insect or could tell us where about you found your materials but other than that I think you did a really great job for this activity.

    Great Job!

  7. Kia ora Chris,

Charlotte here from the SLJ Team.

I love your creative ant! I think the mixture of materials you used makes it look so interesting. It is especially creative that you used an olive for a head! Great work!

Was it hard to find different materials for your ant?

I had an ant invasion in my bathroom yesterday! I found them all in my medicine cabinet eating a throat lolly! Yuck!

Have you ever had an ant invasion?

    Ngā mihi,

    Charlotte
