Print Prosthetics

LI: to complete the Summer Learning Journey
The task was to watch a video on how prosthetics are made from 3D Printers and then write down what I learnt, and what surprised me from the video. The task was based off of Chuck Hull who was the first person to create a 3D Printer. A 3D Printer is a printer that prints layers to make a 3D shape from a computer.

What Did I Learn: I learnt that people are creating prosthetic limbs at a very low price to help the people who can't afford the regular costs that are usually thousands of dollars

What Surprised Me: What surprised me was how it could be designed, the designs of these products kinda of look like what superheros would wear so the boys like the designs.

  2. Kia ora Chris,

It is so awesome that technology has created a solution for people who need prosthetic limbs, by making them affordable! I like how it can be designed to look like a superhero as well. Did you know much about prosthetics before this activity?

  4. Talofa Chris! I really enjoyed this activity, and being able to look at something completely different than usual. These 3D prosthetic hands are incredible, and such a joy for little children. I think it's amazing that volunteers are saving families from thousands of dollars, with these free prosthetic limbs. It also surprised me that one of their technique's is making the designs look superhero like, because the kids absolutely love to show them off! Great job!

  5. Hello Chris,
I also found it nice how people were creating low cost prosthetic limbs for people who can't afford to pay the thousands of dollars that it normally costs. People helping other people is always what you want to see or hear about. 3D printers are certainly useful. Keep up the good work.
