Fungi Problem

For this activity we had a math problem to solve. The problem was: that we tested the air in our classroom and found 7 different kinds of mould. The cleaner says that it takes 5 days for each mould to be removed. If the school had to remove each mould one at a time, how long would it take to remove all the mould from the classroom? So each mould takes five days to remove, and theirs seven moulds in the class. So we just have to multiply five and seven.

5 x 7 = 35 days - 5 weeks

  1. Hi Chris,
Great job on completing this activity! I liked how you explained the problem clearly. I also liked how you solved the problem simply. Would you want to be in a classroom with seven different types of mould?

  2. Hey Chris,

It is great to see that you've given us a clear explanation of how to solve this problem. I like how you have explained your strategy in a sentence as well as using the number equation.

It is always important to write down units for your answer (i.e. 'days' or 'weeks') and you have done this successfully. In fact, you have given me both!

Do you enjoy problem solving? What is your goal for maths this year?

    Keep up the awesome blogging,
    Susie

Well done for completing this task. I am glad to see you posting these SLJ activities. Did you enjoy finishing this activity? Why? I did this activity too. It was very fun to complete. Great thinking. You have used an amazing formula to find out the answer. Great for adding how many weeks too.

    NICE:)
